What is the importance of a good night sleep?

  • Screen use. The blue light emitted from screens activates your brain and suppresses the production of the sleep hormone melatonin, making it difficult to fall asleep.
  • Stress and worrying. Stress and worrying can make it challenging to fall asleep and lead to early awakenings. Poor performance after a bad night’s sleep can cause stress, creating a vicious cycle.
  • Diet and exercise. Eating a heavy meal right before bedtime activates digestion, keeping you awake. Exercise stimulates the brain instead of making it sleepy, making it difficult to fall asleep.
